Education in the arts is essential to students' intellectual, social, physical and emotional growth and well-being. Experiences in the arts – dance, drama, music and visual-arts- play a valuable role in helping students to achieve their potential as learners and to participate fully in their community and in society as a whole. The arts nourish and stimulate the imagination and provide students with an expanded range of tools, techniques and skills to help them gain insights into the world around them and to represent their understandings in various ways.

Arts Consultant 

ºÃÉ«tv District School Board employs an Arts Consultant who can provide resources and direction to teachers as they plan arts experiences for their students.Ìý Teachers can access this support by emailing the art consultants.

Integrated Arts 

The Integrated Arts program offers a unique secondary school experience for students with a high interest in the arts. This program provides an enriched high school experience for all students. Students take special courses that illuminate the connections between all of the Arts. They also have an opportunity to focus their study on one particular art form with other students who have a gift for that form and a keen desire to work, play and learn in that art form.Ìý

The aims of the program include: the creation of a safe and positive learning environment for students with artistic gifts, the enrichment of learning in all subjects through arts based teaching/learning strategies, the development of transferable skills acquired through Arts education, career awareness and career preparedness for Arts students in any field of employment.Ìý

KPR Arts Council 

The KPR Arts Council, supported by the Teaching and Learning Department, is run by a dedicated group of teachers in the board who are passionate about the arts.Ìý The Mission of the Council is to promote access to, and involvement in the Arts for all students and staff by promoting opportunities to learn, experience and share the deep enriching power of the arts.Ìý The council has worked to provide resources for teachers and will be facilitating a variety of initiatives and events to generate collaboration and learning between individuals and groups within the Board
