Dear KPR Families,ÌýÌý

Greetings to everyone on this chilly day! We are nearing the end of January, which can feel like an especially long month for many of us – but I am hopeful that warmer temperatures are just around the corner.ÌýÌý

As a school board, we have been starting the new year off well, with an enhanced focus on well-being and mental health. If you haven’t done so already, I encourage you to follow along on social media @kprschools and check out the information and links to resources available on the Starting Well page on our website. There is some great learning for everyone!Ìý

As we continue to welcome and amplify student voice across the district, I want to highlight an exciting opportunity open to Grade 10 and 11 full-time students. We are currently inviting applications for the position of KPR Student Trustee for the 2025-2026 school year! Details about the application process and eligibility are available ÌýÌý

Next week we recognize Holocaust Remembrance Day, the , and also wish a Happy Lunar New Year to those observing this celebration. For more information about upcoming days of significance, please visit KPR’s .Ìý

2025-26 School Year Calendar SurveyÌý

KPR students, staff, families and community members are invited to provide feedback on the proposed 2025-2026 school year calendar through a survey, which is available until February 2, 2025.Ìý

Highlights of the proposed calendar include the following dates:Ìý

  • The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 2, 2025.   Ìý

  • The last day of classes before winter break will be Friday, December 19, 2025.Ìý

  • The proposed winter break is from December 22, 2025 - January 2, 2026, and students will return to class on Monday, January 5, 2026.Ìý

  • The proposed March Break is from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20, 2026. (Friday, March 13 is a proposed designated board holiday)Ìý

EQAO Math Webinar for Families Ìý

Families are invited to attend a free live webinar on February 18, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. to learn about the EQAO math assessment that is taken by Ontario students in Grades 3, 6 and 9. EQAO staff will discuss math questions in EQAO assessments and valuable insights from the past three years of assessment results, which can help parents and caregivers support their children’s math learning. Families are invited to learn more about the webinar and register . Ìý

OTIP Teaching Awards 2025: Nominations are OpenÌý

Nominations are now open for the 2025 OTIP Teaching Awards – a great opportunity to recognize the excellence of teachers in publicly funded education. There are three categories of awards: elementary teacher, secondary teacher and beginning teacher (in the first five years of teaching). A teacher may be nominated by anyone—professional colleagues, students, parents and caregivers, or community members.ÌýÌý

The deadline for receipt of nominations is March 31, 2025. Further information and the online nomination form is available at .Ìý
