COHREA Resources

The Commissioner's Office of Human Rights, Equity & Accessibility (COHREA) uses various resources to support KPRDSB students, parents/guardians, staff and other community members in understanding their rights and responsibilities when dealing with human rights issues in our schools and Board offices.

Human Rights: Code-Based Discrimination & Harassment Policy

The Human Rights: Code-Based Disability and Harassment policy applies only to issues and complaints related to Ontario's Human Rights Code (the Code). The COHREA addresses complaints when there is a connection between the negative treatment and one or more of the Code grounds.

COHREA Annual Report

The COHREA submits an annual report to the Board that details the activities of the COHREA during each reporting year (September to August).

Education and Training

The COHREA also provides human rights education and training opportunities for Board staff, students and/or Trustees.ÌýAt the ºÃÉ«tv District School Board, all employees, volunteers, and providers of goods, services and facilities on behalf of the Board, are required to complete training about the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) and the Ontario Human Rights Code. This training is provided in accordance with section 7 of theÌýÌýmade under theÌýÌý(´¡°¿¶Ù´¡).

Working Together: The Code and the AODA training videos and quizzes are available in English and French. An ASL/LSQ interpretation as well as French and English transcripts are available for each training video.

In accordance with the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation, made under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, KPRDSB maintains training records of all employees and volunteers. Upon completion of the training, we require submission of the Accessibility and Human Rights Training Certificate to school principals and supervisors.

AllÌýschool administration, teachers, early child educators, child youth workers, educational assistants and other employees involved in program or course design, delivery and instructionÌýmust complete.
